Call 911 In Case Of Emergencies

HOME SAFETY ACTIVITIES:

This page is intended to list some of the programs in our community that will make Ventu Park a safer place to live.

PLEASE PARK OFF THE STREET DURING RED FLAG ALERTS!

The community of Ventu Park within Newbury Park has a fascinating history which dates back over 100 years. It is comprised of dense housing and narrow roads, surrounded and intermingled with the beautiful Santa Monica Mountains nature preserves of mature chaparral and woodlands, and wildlife habitats.

The County Fire Protection District is here to protect the people and structures within the area. And, the success of this protection is also dependent upon the involvement of community cooperation. Roadways in the Ventu Park area must be able to accommodate emergency support vehicles entering the area, and residents evacuating at the same time. Therefore, the Fire Department is advising residents to move cars off the streets during periods of Red Flag Alerts when fires are most likely to occur.

Red Flag signs are posted on Red Flag Days at the intersections of Lynn Road and Newbury Lane, S. Ventu Park Road, and Heavenly Valley Road.

VC ALERTS!

Phone and email alerts are also offered by the Ventura County Sheriff with their VC Alert program. All residents of Ventu Park are urged to sign up for VC Alert to automatically receiver information regarding emergency situations by going to VC Alert for more information.

PLEASE KEEP YOUR PROPERTY CLEAR OF FLAMMABLE VEGETATION AND OTHER DANGEROUS MATERIALS!

The Ventura County Fire Department has a Fire Hazard Reduction Program that mandates property owners maintain their property free of fire hazards of nuisance vegetation. Inspections are carried out beginning the last week of May, however the fire department expects properties to be maintained year round. See https://vcfd.org/fire-prevention/fire-hazard-reduction-program-fhrp/ for further information about this program.

One of the events the VPFSC is involved in is free wood chipping to assist residents in disposing of the flammable vegetation they have cleared from their property. One such event was held in 2015.

Low branches and flammables are being removed in the adjacent photo.

Newbury Park participated in this years free Chipper Event on May 20th.

Many properties participated - it was very successful in helping residents remove combustible debri.
